The Problem

Discernment is no longer optional.

AI can now generate convincing news articles, deepfake videos, synthetic voices, fake music, forged documents, and manipulative ads — all at scale, all nearly undetectable to untrained eyes. Algorithms amplify whatever triggers the strongest reaction, true or not.

The Threat

An information environment where the default trust posture is to assume authenticity — and where the most emotionally triggering content travels fastest, regardless of whether it is real.

The Solution

A repeatable verification process, a toolkit of free detectors, healthy alternatives for every polluted channel, and an app that makes truth-checking as easy as taking a photo. TruthLens never tells you what to think — it teaches you how to check.

The Method

The 6-Step OSINT Truth Process

Open-source intelligence is the practice of using publicly available information to verify claims. This process works for anything — news, viral video, images, social posts, ads, or documents.

STEP 1

Stop

Don't react, don't share. A strong emotional reaction is exactly when to pause — disinformation is designed to bypass your rational mind.

  • Breathe before engaging
  • "Who benefits if I share this now?"
  • "Am I being asked to feel something, or learn something?"
STEP 2

Source

Who created this? Trace content to a real, verifiable human or organization. If you can't, treat it as suspect.

  • Find the original, not the reshare
  • Check the author's track record
  • WHOIS the domain; reverse-image any photos
STEP 3

Verify

Does the evidence hold up? Real news corroborates across independent sources; fakes have a single origin.

  • 2+ independent credible sources?
  • Do the quotes & stats trace to originals?
  • Click every cited link
STEP 4

Inspect

Check for AI fingerprints — with both tools and your own eyes.

  • Images: hands, teeth, text, jewelry
  • Video: watch at 0.25× speed
  • Audio: listen for robotic cadence
  • Check C2PA content credentials
STEP 5

Context

Even real media is weaponized by decontextualization. A genuine 2019 photo sold as 2026 "breaking news" is disinformation.

  • When was this originally created?
  • Who is amplifying it, and why now?
  • What's been cropped or omitted?
STEP 6

Decide

Act with integrity. Share truth, correct falsehood, stay silent when uncertain.

  • If verified: share with sources cited
  • If false: report calmly, warn others
  • If uncertain: don't share
The Golden Rule of OSINT

No single tool is the final answer. The process works because it combines independent signals — if 4 of 6 steps flag something, you have a strong case. The most important OSINT tool is a trained human mind. Teach it to the youngest first.
